Arber Mountain (Bayerischer Wald, Germany) 2010.
This is the highest mountain of Bayerischer Wald area (Bavarian Wilderness). It is very close to German-Czech border, and its highest peak is called Grosser Arber ("Greater Arber", 1456m). Similar to these parts of Bavaria, the mountain is covered by dense coniferous forest. Grosser Arbersee is the largest of seven glacial lakes that exist on Arber.
Arber ski center is on the north side just under the Grosser Arber peak. These slopes are steep, so they have a nice selection of red and black rated ski tracks. Tracks are not too long as the vertical drop is up to 400m.
Winter photographs are from January 2010.
