France: Orleans
Orleans is one of the very pleasant cities of central France, partly due to quiet life and beautiful Loire valley. It takes just a litle more than one hour by train to reach Paris if you miss the busy metropolis, making Orleans a well balanced place to live. CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique) has a large complex in this city, including laboratories of CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales).
Loire valley is a story of its own, with its beautiful surrondings and countless castles. The best way to see this area is to get a bicycle and ride it along numerous trails, you can also use the trains to cover longer distances easily.
Chateau Chenonceaux Panorama (VR)
One of the Loire valley castles, built in the 15th century over the old manor. Many Loire castles feature Renaissance architecture, fitting nicely in the beautiful natural surroundings.
